The Papillon is ...
... a small, friendly, elegant toy dog with a fine boned structure. He is light and dainty, yet still lively, and is distinguished from other breeds by his beautiful, butterfly-like ears. The Papillon name was derived from the French word meaning butterfly.
Papillons are known to be happy and alert little dogs that are not shy or aggressive. They are attractive, very graceful, amusing, and make great companions. Most are outgoing and happy dogs who love to meet people, sit in laps, and show lots of affection. Papillons do not have a reputation for being high-strung, nervous or fearful.
Papillons are a happy breed whether living in an apartment, out in the country or anywhere in between. They love to play outdoors, but they can be easily entertained and exercised indoors as well. With their intelligence and desire to please, they can be readily trained to household routines. Because they don't have an undercoat, they don't require a lot of grooming but should still be brushed regularly.
A Papillon makes a great companion.
We believe it is very important for puppies to be socialized from the very start and it shows in the outgoing, friendly and healthy puppies we breed. Our pups are rarely alone, they are either being played with by family or are interacting with the other puppies and older dogs.
In July 2016, all of our Papillons received their OFA Eye Certification. Our Papillons were also DNA tested through Paw Print Genetics in August 2016. I am pleased to announce that they all received Normal ratings for PRA1 and Von Willebrand Disease 1. Results can be seen at the Paw Print Genetics website.
*** Please Note: When considering any pet for your home, please remember that a smaller breed may be hurt, seriously injured or even killed by small/young children. The AKC website has great information to help you decide which breed may be best for your family and lifestyle.
